Author + Researcher
Self-Employed | Jan '16 - May '18

400+ pages of local history: completed May 2018, after 2 years, the Mt. Lebanon, PA community was awarded this comprehensive photographic timeline of each building at Mt. Lebanon’s campus from 1914 through 2015.

During a period of tumultuous construction, I spent my freshman year around construction vehicles, gravel, plastic tarps for walls, and drill smoke. Throughout this process, I grew philosophical over the “high school experience" — what I grew up believing it to be (and remembering it as) and what it had become.

The major question that drove this book: what would Mt. Lebanon High Schoolers of the future experience? Would it ever be the same? My duty was to create something that alumni, community members, current, and future students could use to learn about the past that brought them to where we are today, and how architecture shapes our experiences.

The book can be found at the Pittsburgh Landmark & History Foundation, Mt. Lebanon Historical Society, Mt. Lebanon Public Library, and Mt. Lebanon High School.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with Callie, and came to know her as a truly valuable asset to our team at Responsival. Callie receives constructive criticism like a seasoned professional. She is consistently ready to tackle any design challenge head-on and is constantly striving to learn and grow her skills. Callie carries herself in discussion between the high level plans of a project and fine detail with ease. Her passion for UX and design is palpable. Callie’s bright and bubbly personality brought a warmth and joy to our team that is hard to come by in a candidate. She will be an asset to any team focused on UX/UI design or brand.

I managed Callie as part of Citizens' 2021 UX Summer Internship and was thoroughly impressed with her professionalism, enthusiasm, and ability to contribute meaningful value in such a short period of time. Callie exhibited the qualities of a natural leader in quickly absorbing all of the information we threw at her and self-organizing with fellow interns as a *fully functional independent team* in less than 8 weeks.

Director of Design Engineering at Citizens Bank
Callie was an excellent leader and mentor over the course of my summer internship at Responsival. She cultivated a positive, team environment where the interns could collaborate and offer feedback/critiques without judgement. She created amazing content and assignments that fully encapsulated the process of UX design from start to finish and managed our time efficiently in order to stay on track. She provided extensive feedback on the interns' designs and assignments, and because of her knowledge in design and UX principles, she helped me create a UX case study I'm proud to share.

I had the pleasure of mentoring Callie through a summer internship at Citizens Bank. Callie brought great enthusiasm, energy, ambition, and passion for her work, to the job. Callie is a talented designer who understands design process through her ability to ask questions, tease out answers and expand on her solutions through her growth mindset and communication skills. As a designer she understands the value of user research and how the data is incorporated to improve designs solutions and solve problems. Callie is a creative thinker, responsible and professional team player who would be a great addition to any design organization.
Monica Granfield
Sr. UX Design Partner at Citizens Bank
Callie is an absolute diamond to have on any company. First and foremost her great energy is just as shining as her talents in UX, branding, and more. Callie interned at NaviSavi, a video travel app, that launched during her semester with us. She worked on aspects of the brand bible, the app UX, graphics for the download store, and the rebuilt website. Anything she touched had great thought behind it. I would bring Callie anytime to NaviSavi. :)
Sally Bunnell
Founder & CEO at NaviSavi
Callie's thoroughness, organizational skills and design talent paid off for me with an updated personal website that truly captures my multi-faceted career as a journalist and educator. Callie took time on the front end to get to know me, and that made all the difference. She asked smart questions that got to the heart of who I am professionally -- she really made me think! -- and she listened actively and carefully to my answers. I appreciate her patience, her flexibility and her creativity. Not only did I get a terrific website, but I learned a lot in the process. I won't hesitate to hire her again.

I recently partnered with @Callie DeMasters at @Amulet Creative Studio for some #UserInterfaceArchitechture work, including comparative market analysis, web design, and gamification work on a project I've been pursuing. The results were exactly what I was hoping for and more. From the outset, Callie spent a great deal of time to thoroughly understand project attributes, goals, market nuances, and really the whole big picture we were going for. The end result, a clearly defined set of actionable work sets and recommendations, was custom fit for the market, our budget, and the development pace that aligns with the overall project. Her excellent deliverables opened my eyes to both quick fixes and big possibilities for the project. I highly recommend Callie's work. Open the dialogue with her today... Like me, you'll be happy with the result.
